NHFPC holds media forum for publicity of healthcare reform
To carry out President Xi Jinping’s important instruction that he delivered during his inspection of the healthcare sector in Jiangsu, the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) held a forum with media to discuss the publicity of deepening healthcare reform on December 27. Representatives from NHFPC departments and more than 30 media outlets had discussions around the topic. Cui Li, vice-minister of the NHFPC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Mao Qun’an, director-general of the NHFPC’s Department of Communications, hosted the meeting.

Cui Li expressed her gratitude to the media for their long-term support of the health and family planning sector. She said that the Party Central Committee and State Council have paid great attention to healthcare reform. Cui introduced important topics of healthcare reform to the media. First, the NHFPC will further carry out public hospital reform. It will fully implement county-level hospital reform across the country in 2015, strengthen city public hospital reform, deepen one-on-one assistance between urban and rural hospitals, and solve the problems of seeing doctors and high medical expenses. Second, the NHFPC will build a more harmonious relationship between doctors and patients, improve the “three conciliation and insurance” system, and optimize process and improve service in order to increase social satisfaction. The NHFPC will intensify the crackdown on medical-related crimes and safeguard the normal medical order. Third, it will strengthen trainings for medical professionals and resident doctors, upgrading the medical staff’s ability and service level. Fourth, the NHFPC will push forward the equalization of urban and rural basic public health service, taking effective measures to ensure that the basic public health services can benefit the common people.

Cui hoped that media can make efforts in publicizing healthcare reform, boosting China’s health sector development.
