NHFPC holds 2015 national health and family planning work conference
To summarize health and family planning work of 2014 and deploy 2015’s tasks, the 2015 national conference on health and family planning work was held in Beijing on Jan 8. Li Bin, minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), delivered a working report. Sun Zhigang, vice-minister of the NHFPC, hosted the conference and delivered a speech. Vice-ministers Wang Guoqiang, Ma Xiaowei, Wang Pei’an, Liu Qian, Yin Li, Cui Li and Jin Xiaotao, as well as Chen Ruiping, chief discipline inspector in the NHFPC, attended the conference.

Before the conference, Premier Li Keqiang and Vice-Premier Liu Yandong wrote instructions that fully affirmed the achievements made by the NHFPC in 2014 and made requirements on the NHFPC’s work in 2015.

Li Bin pointed out that health and family planning commissions at all levels have made improvements in healthcare reform, public health, and serious diseases prevention and treatment in 2014. The diagnosis and treatment quantity of medical institutions nationwide reached 7.8 billion people, increasing 6.6 percent year-on-year. The basic medical insurance system covered 1.325 billion people. The insurance rate stayed above 95 percent. The population growth rate stayed within 6.5‰. People’s health conditions were increasingly upgraded, which boosted the economy and society and sustainably developed and improved people’s lives. The healthcare reform was deepened in an all-around way. The two-child policy was carried out steadily. Family planning work was further strengthened. Public health and medical service were further improved, and TCM popularization was steadily pushed forward.
