National migrant care program begins in Anhui
The Anhui provincial health and family planning commission and the city of Bengbu opened a national migrant population care program at the Bengbu, Anhui train station, on Feb 4, the first day of the massive Spring Festival migration, with help from the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), the State Council migrant workers office, and the China Family Planning Association.

Wang Qian, head of NHFPC’s migrant population dept, was the first to address the opening ceremony, followed by State Council, Family Planning Association, Anhui family planning commission and Bengbu officials, who later handed out money to poor migrant households and schoolbags and scarves to children whose parents are absent, on behalf of the Party and government.

Wang said he hopes that all departments can do more to improve migrant population services and be innovative in their migrant care efforts, and create a good atmosphere for the migrant population, one where the elderly and left-behind children are respected, cared for, and loved. The Bengbu government says that it has been people- and development-oriented over the years, promoting a service model for migrant family planning and development, with equal access to public services, two-way cooperation, personnel, informatization, and security.
