Health and family planning minister joins population development meeting
At an executive committee meeting of the Partners in Population and Development Organization (PPD) in Beijing, on March 26, Li Bin, the minister of China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission, was on hand to discuss China’s cooperation with other countries for the greater happiness of developing countries.
Li, who is also the chairwoman of the PPD executive committee, told the gathering, “As the only inter-governmental organization in the global population sector, the PPD has played an important role in South-South cooperation in population and has contributed a lot to China’s population and family planning.”

She went on to say that China is just like other PPD member countries in facing challenges in population aging, migrant populations and maternal and infant health, and that it will fulfill its duty as the president of the organization in improving administration, communication and cooperation for the organization’s healthy development.
Organizers of the meeting, whose purpose was to determine the PPD Strategic Plan for the 2015-2019 period, were the NHFPC and the PPD, who invited representatives of seven member countries and the UN secretary-general’s office.
