Jin Xiaotao attends U.N. population meeting
The 48th meeting of U.N. Commission on Population and Development was held in New York, UN's headquarters from April 13-17.

“As the most populous developing country in the world, China has always paid great attention to the population in order to explore a sustainable development for population, economy, society, resources and environment,” Jin Xiaotao, a vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) said at the meeting.

Although China has carried out measures in population development, education and health, it still faces many challenges. Jin went on to say that the increased population has growing pressure on resources and environment, and the population structure also produces some problems. “Chinese government will improve the situation by using sustainable ways to balance development and population,” he said, adding that China is pushing forward new urbanization, increasing investment in health and implementing healthy aging.

“Chinese government is willing to cooperate with all countries in the world and international community for the global population and development,” Jin concluded.
