Li Bin meets with UN deputy secretary general
Li Bin, minister of China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) met with Michel Sidibé, UN deputy secretary general, and Mark Dybul, executive director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, in Beijing, on May 4, to discuss the prevention and control of AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and Sino-African cooperation.

Li told the gathering that, “The Chinese government has given a lot of attention to the prevention and control of the three major contagious diseases and is ready to do its duty in cooperating more with the international community on infectious disease prevention and control and to share its experience with the world.”
She added that the Chinese government looks forward to cooperating with international organizations, such as UNAIDS, the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to contribute to Chinese and global health.
Sidibé replied that UNAIDS will cooperate more with China in AIDS prevention and control and that he expects China to achieve more in blocking mother-to-child AIDS transmission and related policy implementation.
Dybul expressed his gratitude for China’s support for the Global Fund, saying, “The Global Fund is willing to share China’s experience with other countries and make an effort to internationalize traditional Chinese medicine products.”
