Chinese medical team brings relief to quake-stricken Nepal
The powerful earthquake that hit Nepal, on April 25, left a vast amount of damage and has killed more than 6,000 people, but the Chinese government was quick to react and sent a medical team to help the injured, on April 27, and to help with round-the-clock rescue services.

Many of the severely injured were transferred to the Chinese tent hospital for treatment or surgery. One of the injured was a 72-year-old woman whose hands and left leg were injured by a collapsed building.

The team’s Hu Weifeng, an orthopedic surgeon, was busy operating on patients with fractures and did two operations in two different hospitals, on April 28, and took four hours to perform surgery on an elderly patient with a severe bone fracture.

Gu Shouyi, the medical team leader, remarked, “The first days, our team members tried their best to treat the injured and had no time to rest. But it doesn’t matter what the time or place is, if we’re needed, we’ll be there.”
