Vice-premier stresses importance of food safety
Vice-Premier Wang Yang stressed the importance of the rule of law and morality in ensuring the nation’s food safety on June 15, when he attended the China Food Safety Publicity Week in Beijing.

Wang said food safety is directly related to the interests of the public, as well as China’s efforts to build a moderately prosperous country, and its modernization drive.
He called for combined efforts to strengthen the rule of law and maintain a moral code to set up a long-term mechanism that guarantees food safety.
Enterprises should act with integrity and in accordance with the law, improve the quality of the safety management system, intensify the training of employees, and ensure food quality from the outset.
The vice-premier said the government should strengthen supervision as well as ensure that the authorities are acting in accordance with the law and sanction those who violate the law.
He also called for the participation of the public, industrial associations and the media in ensuring food safety.
