Top health authorities launch 2015 national free clinic week
Co-organized by the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Medical Department of the General Logistics Department, the 2015 national free clinic week was launched on September 13 in Bijie, Guizhou province. During the week, the national medical team made up of doctors from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Peking University People’s Hospital, Xiangya Hospital, Beijing Children’s Hospital, Beijing Dongzhimen Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University will be giving free medical consultation and free surgery to the residents of Bijie and providing free physical examinations to the poor families’ left-behind children.

This year’s focus is free medical consultation to national and provincial poverty-stricken counties. In addition, a further seven national medical teams will provide medical services to the poor areas of Lindian county, Heilongjiang province, Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Liangshan, Sichuan province, and Puer, Yunnan province.

This is the third time that the NHFPC has held such an activity, which will run until September 19. Nearly 20,000 medical institutions are participating in the activity, which is expected to benefit ten million people.
