Cui Li inspects Sichuan’s health emergency work
Accompanied by officials from the Health Emergency Response Office, Cui Li, vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), inspected Sichuan province’s health emergency work from September 15 to 16.

During her inspection, Cui learned about the situation of the emergency medical rescue teams and the mobile hospital. She said that in recent years, Sichuan province’s health emergency work has achieved a great deal through medical staff training, treatment base construction and logistic support. Sichuan effectively handled emergent acute infectious diseases, such as plague and H5N6 avian influenza, and carried out the Lushan earthquake rescue and 50 other emergency medical rescues. “When the Nepal earthquake happened in April this year, Sichuan dispatched a Chinese government medical team to the earthquake-hit areas within 48 hours, rescuing nearly 700 injured people,” Cui added.

She also outlined requirements for the next step of health emergency work during the inspection.
