Li Bin meets with European commissioner for health and food safety
Li Bin, minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) met with Vytenis ANDRIUKAITIS , European commissioner for health and food safety in Beijing on November 5. Both sides exchanged ideas about health issues.

Li Bin introduced the “Healthy China” strategy to the commissioner. “As a national strategy, “Healthy China” covers medical and healthcare reform, hospital management, food safety strategies and lifestyles, embodying the government’s determination to safeguard its people’s health,” Li said. China and Europe cooperated in healthcare reform, antibiotic usage, food safety and tobacco control, she added .
She hoped that China and Europe can further health cooperation, and invited Vytenis ANDRIUKAITIS to attend 2016 global health promotion conference in Beijing.
The European commissioner praised the “Healthy China” strategy and China’s contribution against Ebola and MERS. He said China and Europe should work together in coping with international health threats and non-infectious diseases.
Both sides agreed to establish a Sino-European high-level dialogue mechanism in health, furthering medical exchanges.
