[Two Sessions] Wang Guoqing: Two-child policy is a well-thought decision
The press conference of the Fourth Session of the 12th CPPCC National Committee was held at the Great Hall of the People on March 2. Wang Guoqing, spokesman of the session, introduced the session and answered questions from reporters.
Nigerian reporter: Today's news covered layoffs at some Chinese companies and the two-child policy in China. The policy would mean a bigger population. How will the CPPCC deal with the relationship between unemployment and a growing population?
Wang: Thanks for your question, which is actually a long-range issue. It's undisputable that China's population will grow after the two-child policy. But in the long run, it's a well-thought decision by the government. As for the layoffs, I believe it's temporary. The government will take care of the relations between the two issues, that is, maintaining proper population growth while ensuring sustainable economic development. Much could be said about the two issues if we went deeper and had lots of data. I suggest you find some experts present and they will give you a more authoritative answer.
