A gathering was held in Beijing on Feb 29 to observe International Women’s Day which falls on March 8, and honor Chinese women of outstanding achievement.
Vice-Premier Liu Yandong and Vice-President Li Yuanchao met with over 300 women who were honored.
Shen Yueyue, president of the All-China Women’s Federation, expressed her hope that women across the country would learn from these examples, and strive to excel.
Shen also urged women nationwide to play unique roles in cultivating and passing on their respective family virtues, as well as helping the country win the war over poverty.
Women’s federations at all levels should rally behind the cause of building a moderately prosperous society, and of realizing the “Chinese dream” of national rejuvenation, Shan noted.
