Chinese minister addresses World Health Assembly
At the World Health Organization’s World Health Assembly in the city of Geneva, Switzerland 23-28 May, China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission minister, Li Bin, told the gathering that the Chinese government intends to support the WHO to help it reach its Sustainable Development Goals.

The Assembly is the top decision-making body of the WHO, with a committee made up of representatives of all the member states.
Li went on to say that the country’s “Healthy China” strategy is part of its overall development plan and that it has various measures to ensure that its people are equal in their healthcare, and that China is taking an active part in global health management and is cooperating with international health organizations and various nations and dos its best to contribute to the UN’s millennium development goals.
Li noted that China itself faces many challenges from its population aging, industrialization, urbanization and diseases, but that these are also faced by many countries around the world so China will cooperate with WHO in implementing health-related Sustainable Development Goals.
