China's National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) held a meeting on Aug 23 to discuss how to better implement the Healthy China strategy initiated by China's top leadership.
The National Health and Family Planning Commission discusses ideas during a national meeting on health on Aug 23.
Presided by Li Bin, minister and secretary of Party Leadership Group of the NHFPC, the meeting provided a platform for discussion and exchange regarding the spirit and ideas of the national meeting on health held from Aug 19 to 20.
The Healthy China strategy plays an innovative role in advancing China’s public health, according to the discussion.
Health workers from across the country should have a thorough understanding of the strategy to better achieve "leapfrog development".
To implement innovative ideas, health workers should pay more attention to the health care at basic levels and put prevention first. Furthermore, western medicine should work together with traditional Chinese medicine to benefit all people in China.
Delegates at the meeting agreed that comprehensively deepening reform in the health sector plays an important part in building a modern health structure in China.
Health industries in China should be also well-supported to become one of the pillars in the national economy.
Media, especially new media platforms, should be better used to promote the strategy, and publicize the best-achieving teams and models in the health sector to the public, according to the meeting.
For those who violate the basic rules and regulations in implementing the Healthy China strategy, they will shoulder the responsibility in accordance with the law.
