China opens national free clinic week
For the fourth time, China's public health departments are co-sponsoring a national free clinic program to benefit the general public.
Free clinic activities will be held at a public place in every city and every county across the country for one day, according to the program.
Other activities, such as free public health lectures, will also be held.

Themed "inherit the spirit of the Long March, hold free clinics to benefit the people", the week-long activity was arranged by the NHFPC, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Health Bureau of the Logistics Department with the Central Military Commission.

This year, the program also covers free physical examinations and medicine for Red Army veterans, as part of the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Chinese Red Army's victory of the Long March (1934-1936) .
China's public health departments have organized eight medical teams to offer free clinics in middle-and-southwest China.

The program, involving over 20,000 medical establishments, is scheduled to end on Sept 10 and is expected to benefit 15 million people.
