China shares experience in health emergency response

China's achievements in health emergency response were laid out on Nov 23 at the 9th Global Conference for Health Promotion in Shanghai.

 

China's emergency response teams have a duty to address public health issues and guarantee national public health, said Xu Shuqiang, director of Health Emergency Response Office of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC).

 

During the 13th Five-Year-Plan, China will work to prevent acute communicable diseases and strengthen its emergency medical aid provision.

 

Chin-Kei Lee, medical officer for the western Pacific region of the World Health Organization, said he is a proud of the Asia Pacific region for setting a good example for other regions to tackle all kinds of diseases and crises.

 

The Ministry of Commerce has been in close cooperation with the NHFPC to offer aid in the health sector and support cooperation between hospitals and medical schools in China and other countries, said Wang Chen, assistant research fellow of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of commerce.

 

The China Aid team is highly appreciated by the Nigerian government for applying the things it learnt from the Sichuan Earthquake and Ya'an Earthquake while operating in Nigeria, said Du Bo, deputy director of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Sichuan province, who led a medical team to Nigeria after the earthquake.
