BEIJING — Premier Li Keqiang has called for better HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment to build a healthy China.

HIV/AIDS is detrimental to people’s health and lives, Premier Li wrote ahead of the 30th World AIDS Day which falls on Dec 1, adding that prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS constituted a key part in the “Healthy China” campaign.

While commending progress in keeping HIV/AIDS infections at a low level, Premier Li ordered government departments at all levels to invest more and “break through the bottleneck” in research of AIDS prevention and treatment.

He said efforts must also be made to improve prevention and treatment and to provide more targeted services with more support for impoverished groups.
