Health authorities to provide better health care for people living in poverty
The National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) recently held a conference in Hanzhong, Shaanxi province to arrange a service campaign to provide better health care for people living in poverty.
Wang Pei’an, vice-minister of the NHFPC, Xia Gengsheng, member of the poverty relief office of the State Council, and Wei Zengjun, vice-governor of Shaanxi province, spoke at the conference.
The service campaign will be held during the Chinese traditional New Year festival, when migrant workers come back to their rural home towns.
The NHFPC urged health departments at all levels to provide services to every rural household.
The service campaign should be carried out by professional medical crews composed of rural health clinic staff, village doctors and other medical staff who are familiar with policies and good at communication, according to the conference.
The medical crews will provide physical examinations and free on-site clinics for impoverished people, implement treatment measures for critical illnesses and chronic diseases and promote healthcare policies in poor areas to safeguard impoverished people’s health.
Officials from the NHFPC’s department in charge of poverty alleviation attended the conference.
While in Shaanxi Wang inspected Chenggu county’s poverty alleviation work and visited impoverished people.
