China promoting smart healthy aging

The conference is co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Civil Affairs and the National Health and Family Planning Commission. 

China held a conference on the development of the smart healthy aging industry on Dec 28 in Beijing.

Wang Pei’an, deputy minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, made a speech at the conference, saying that the implementation of smart healthy aging is “an effective way to achieve the strategic goal of healthy aging.”

It is also a new driving force that deepens the supply-side structural reform and develops the health service industry, according to Wang.

He said that smart healthy aging is an important part of Healthy China and Digital China strategies, while focusing on the “people-centered” mode of development.

Wang demanded health authorities of all levels in China to accelerate the development of smart healthy aging and improve the industry, while also continuing to improve its quality and services.

He called for better work to offer 200 million elderly people in China more sense of gain with the help of technological development.

A list of pilot enterprises and bases were released during the conference.

A white paper on the development of the smart healthy aging industry in 2017 was also released at the meeting.

Themed “Smart Aging, Healthy China”, the conference attracted over 700 officials, researchers and scholars from all over the country.
