China to keep improving health sector publicity

The National Health and Family Planning Commission holds a conference to review and make plans for better publicity work on Jan 10 in Beijing.
The deputy head of China’s national health watchdog on Jan 10 called for better publicity work in 2018 to meet the increasing demand of the public.
“We had more efficient and sound release of health news to address public concerns in 2017,” said Wang Hesheng, vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, at a national conference held in Beijing.

Activities -- including the selection and publicity of the Chinese Good Doctor and Chinese Good Nurse -- achieved new breakthroughs and the public's health literacy continued to improve, he added.
He called for more publicity effort in 2018 to help the public better understand the Healthy China strategy and other health promotion policies and improve their health literacy.
Wang added that inter-connected e-governance and new media platforms should be built to better respond to hot issues.
He said that the country’s first Doctors’ Day, on Aug 19, 2018, should be marked by a series of well prepared activities to gain more respect for medical staff.
