A national medical science and technology award presentation ceremony, focusing on medical innovation and the conversion of such achievements into clinical application, was held on Jan 26 in Beijing.

The Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, one of the leading awards for the medical industry in the country, was selected from 222 scientific and technological achievements this year.

Nine of them were awarded first prize. Twenty-three and 50 achievements were awarded second and third prizes respectively.

Two achievements received the health management award and another two popular medical science awards.

Ma Xiaowei, vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and president of the Chinese Medical Association, encouraged all medical and scientific workers in China to work in a more pragmatic and innovative manner.

He encouraged all medical staff to develop more advanced, efficient, safe and user-friendly technology to promote health.

More than 750 people, including prize winners, health officials, and medical personnel attended the award ceremony.
