Ma Xiaowei meets with British health secretary

Ma Xiaowei, minister of the National Health Commission, met with Britain's Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt in Beijing on April 3.
Ma noted that the health sector has always been the highlight of Sino-British cooperation.
Both sides had close cooperation in health system, diseases prevention and control, medical scientific research and global health, Ma said.
He briefly introduced the achievements of China's health sector development and medical and health care reform.
Ma also put forward proposals for health cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
“China and UK have bright prospects in health cooperation. China is willing to enhance cooperation with UK in health policy and health security, contributing to the happiness of both countries' people,” he added.
Hunt gave high appraisal to Sino-British health cooperation and China’s medical and health development. He hoped that both sides could push forward their cooperation to a higher level.
The two sides also exchanged ideas on patients' safety and healthy aging.
