Peng Liyuan visits HIV/AIDS patients in SW China
Peng Liyuan, a WHO goodwill ambassador for tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, visited the Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture in southwest China’s Sichuan province and met local residents affected by HIV/AIDS on June 21.
She paid a visit to the HIV/AIDS treatment center, a rural town clinic and schools in Zhaojue county to learn about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, care and education.
Peng was appointed as a WHO goodwill ambassador for tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in 2011. In China, she became the health ambassador for HIV/AIDS prevention for the Ministry of Health in January 2006 and the national ambassador for TB control and prevention in March 2007.
