Vice-premier urges prevention, control of occupational diseases
Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan called on efforts to enhance prevention and control of occupational diseases and promote the health of labor workers in China.
Sun made the remarks at a meeting on promoting prevention and control of occupational diseases, which was held on Nov 30.
She urged efforts to implement policies and put focus on key industries, diseases and links, taking comprehensive measures to prevent and control occupational disease hazards.
Importance should be attached to prevention, said Sun, who urged raising the standards for health protection and workplace safety, expanding monitoring network, enhancing physical examination and carrying out education and promotion on occupational health.
The vice-premier said occupational diseases are among major public health problems that impose serious health hazards on labor workers; all levels of government and departments should implement joint measures and strictly supervise enterprises in preventing and controlling occupational diseases.
