Li Bin meets with Global Fund executive director for further cooperation

Li Bin, vice-minister of the National Health Commission (NHC), met with a delegation led by Peter Sands, executive director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, on Feb 28 in Beijing.
Li said China has maintained good long-term cooperation with the Global Fund, which has contributed a lot to the prevention and treatment of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. China will continue to cooperate with the Global Fund in fighting malaria in Africa and other developing countries and share its experiences in fighting these three diseases.
Sands highly praised China’s achievement in fighting malaria through cooperation. He also briefly introduced the Global Fund’s project of applying seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) for children in western and central Africa and provided basic information about the sixth round of financing of the fund. Sands added that the Global Fund is willing to deepen cooperation with China in disease prevention and control.
