NHC vice-minister meets with director-general of IPPF
Yu Xuejun, vice-minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC), met with Alvaro Bermejo, director-general of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and his delegation on Apr 2 in Beijing. They exchanged ideas on population and family planning cooperation.
China has been paying attention to its population development, putting the people first and taking development of the entire society into consideration as it eases population-related problems, said Yu.
China's population development has entered into a new phase as the country's economy and society have developed in recent years. Family planning work, therefore, needs more efforts to improve people's health, provide better maternity services, promote family development and increase people's benefits, said Yu.
Bermejo affirmed China's achievements in population and family planning work and its new approach to the field's development when facing new situations. He said the IPPF is willing to share Chinese experience on the platform of the Belt and Road Initiative and South-South cooperation.
