National conference on prevention and control of major infectious diseases held in Beijing
Li Bin, vice-minister of the National Health Commission (NHC), attended a national video conference on prevention and control of major infectious diseases in the spring and summer held in Beijing on Apr 12.
The conference clarified the epidemic situation and deployed various resources to prevent and control epidemics in the two seasons. Over 1,800 health workers attended the conference.
In 2018 the national epidemic situation remained stable as health authorities at all levels fully implemented the prevention and control of various infectious diseases, Li said on the conference.
Li urged that nationwide health authorities pay close attention to the issue, implement instructions, and strengthen departmental cooperation under the leadership of the prevention and control authorities. The responsibilities of each local authority, institution and person need to be clarified and fully implemented, he said, adding that the epidemic prevention and control should adhere to goal and problem orientation as well as strengthening of management.
In addition, health authorities should continue to take epidemic monitoring, early warning, epidemic response, vaccination, health education and the prevention and control of infectious diseases in schools, said Li.
Assessment and guidance of the prevention and control work should be strengthened, according to Li, so as to ensure the quality of work and maintain good performance, said Li.
