China, Japan expect further aging cooperation

China and Japan should strengthen the cooperation in healthy ageing, according to an official of China's top health authority n in Beijing on July 3.

Ageing has become an common challenge not just for China and Japan but for the whole world as social and economic development, said Wang Jianjun, member of the Leading Party Members' Group of the National Health Commission, as he met with Yasuhiro Suzuki, chief medical & global health officer of Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and his delegation on that day.

Therefore, the two nations should strengthen cooperation in healthy ageing pharmaceuticals and medical apparatus and instruments to improve people's health, added Wang.

Suzuki spoke highly of the rich results of China-Japan health cooperation and said Japan is willing to further the ageing cooperation. He also introduced his country's practices and experience on tackling the challenge.

China's related policies and the project of Healthy China 2030 were also described by Wang at the meeting.
