NHC vice-minister highlights health cooperation with ASEAN

Wang Hesheng, vice-minister of China’s National Health Commission (NHC), led a delegation to the 7th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting and the 8th ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers Meeting that focuses on cooperation between ASEAN nations, China, South Korea and Japan.

At the 7th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting, Wang noted that ASEAN is one of China’s important partners in the health field. Over the past years, the two sides have been engaged in a large number of practical cooperative ventures, making a positive contribution to maintaining regional health safety, improving regional health development and promoting health innovation.

Addressed the 8th ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers Meeting, Wang stressed that China will continue to expand its cooperation areas in health, expand and deepen them under the ASEAN-China-Japan-South Korea framework.

Wang also spoke at two round-table conferences themed on innovative enhancement of health service quality and prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases in Asia-Pacific regions. Both of the conferences passed joint declarations.

After the conferences, Wang held bilateral talks with Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bunheng and visited Cambodian medical institutions.
