On March 12, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 8 new cases of confirmed infections, 33 new cases of suspected infections, and 7 deaths (6 in Hubei province and 1 in Shandong province). 1,318 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,483 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 237.

As of 24:00 on March 12, the National Health Commission had received 80,813 reports of confirmed cases and 3,176 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 64,111 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 13,526 confirmed cases (including 4,020 in serious condition) and 147 suspected cases. So far, 678,088 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 12,161 are now under medical observation.

On March 12, Hubei reported 5 new cases of confirmed infections (all in Wuhan), 1 new case of suspected infections (in Wuhan), and 6 deaths (all in Wuhan). 1,255 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 1,103 in Wuhan.

As of 24:00 on March 12, Hubei had reported 67,786 cases of confirmed infections (including 49,991 in Wuhan) and 3,062 deaths (including 2,436 in Wuhan). In all, 51,553 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 35,197 in Wuhan. There still remained 13,171 confirmed cases (including 12,358 in Wuhan), with 3,948 in serious condition (including 3,793 in Wuhan), and 49 suspected cases (including 44 in Wuhan).

On March 12, the Chinese mainland reported 3 new imported confirmed cases from overseas (2 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Beijing municipality). As of 24:00 on March 12, the Chinese mainland had reported 88 imported confirmed cases from overseas.

As of 24:00 on March 12, 190 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 131 in Hong Kong (3 had been dead and 75 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 10 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 49 in Taiwan (1 had been dead and 20 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
