May 10: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China
On May 9, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 14 new cases of confirmed infections (2 imported cases in Shanghai municipality, 11 indigenous cases in Jilin province and 1 indigenous case in Hubei province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Inner Mongolia autonomous region), and no deaths. 74 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 427 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.
As of 24:00 on May 9, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,683 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,568 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 115 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on May 9, the National Health Commission had received reports of 82,901 confirmed cases and 4,633 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,120 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 148 confirmed cases (including 13 in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. So far, 736,787 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,840 are now under medical observation.
On May 9, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 20 new asymptomatic cases (including 1 imported case). 61 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 16 imported cases) and 1 (indigenous case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on May 9, 794 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 48 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on May 9, 1,529 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,044 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 967 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (40 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 440 in Taiwan (6 had been dead and 361 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
