June 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 15, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 40 new cases of confirmed infections (8 imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Liaoning province; 32 indigenous cases, 27 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Hebei province and 1 in Sichuan province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (1 imported case in Shanghai and 2 indigenous cases in Beijing), and no deaths. 7 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 225 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 3.

As of 24:00 on June 15, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,845 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,752 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 93 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on June 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,221 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,377 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 210 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 753,836 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 4,340 were still under medical observation.

On June 15, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 6 new asymptomatic cases (including 2 imported cases). 8 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 1 imported case) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on June 15, 110 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 63 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on June 15, 1,602 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,112 in Hong Kong (4 had died and 1,067 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 445 in Taiwan (7 had died and 433 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
