China, Russia agree to further health cooperation

The 20th meeting of the Health Cooperation Subcommittee of the China-Russia Committee on Humanities Cooperation was held via video link on Aug 26. The meeting was co-chaired by Zeng Yixin, vice-minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC), and Russia's Deputy Health Minister Yevgeny Kamkin.
The two sides fully affirmed the progress made in the previous year in multilateral and bilateral cooperation in the prevention and control of infectious diseases, health emergency response, the China-Russia Medical University Alliance and traditional medicine.
In-depth discussion was also held on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, allocation of medical resources, research and development of vaccines and drugs, higher medical education in China and Russia, maternal and child health, oncology and ophthalmology.
The two sides agreed to expand and deepen health exchanges and collaboration.
Participants of the meeting included officials from the NHC, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the China-Russia Medical University Alliance.
