Shanghai reports 11 new imported COVID-19 cases
SHANGHAI -- Shanghai reported 11 imported COVID-19 cases and no locally-transmitted cases Thursday, the municipal health commission said on Oct 16.
All the 11 confirmed cases are Chinese nationals. Nine of them departed from Ethiopia where they were working and arrived in Shanghai on Oct 13, while the other two passengers arrived in Shanghai from Russia and Britain, respectively.
All of them have been sent to designated medical institutions for treatment. A total of 218 people in close contact with the patients have been put under quarantine.
The municipal health commission said 733 imported cases had been reported in Shanghai by Thursday. Among them, 661 patients were discharged from the hospital after recovery, and 72 continued to receive treatment.
By Thursday, the municipality had recorded 342 locally transmitted confirmed cases, including seven deaths.
