3,470 medics dispatched to assist Shijiazhuang in fight against COVID-19
SHIJIAZHUANG -- A total of 3,470 medical workers from across China have been dispatched to Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, to assist in containing the latest COVID-19 resurgence, local authorities said on Jan 20.
Of the total, 1,231 workers are from outside the province. All the dispatched medics will carry out work in fields including epidemiological investigation, nucleic acid sampling and testing, and the transportation and treatment of patients after their arrival in the city, said Meng Xianghong, deputy mayor of Shijiazhuang, at a press conference.
As of 12 pm Wednesday, 784 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 183 asymptomatic COVID-19 cases have been reported in Shijiazhuang since Jan 2 during the latest resurgence of COVID-19.
