China attends 148th session of WHO Executive Board
The 148th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board was held from Jan 18 to 26 via video link.
The Chinese delegation, including representatives from the National Health Commission (NHC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and China's Permanent Mission to the UN Office at Geneva, as well as experts, attended the session.
The session reviewed over 40 technical and administrative topics including non-communicable diseases, Immunization Agenda 2030, poliomyelitis, global action on patient safety, antimicrobial resistance, the report of the WHO director-general, the proposed programme budget 2022-2023, the WHO’s responsibilities in global health emergency, and WHO reform.
Five resolutions, including oral health and social determinants of health, as well as 13 decisions, including strengthening the WHO’s global emergency preparedness and response, addressing diabetes as a public health problem, and reform in WHO’s governance, were also reviewed at the session.
Over 500 representatives from WHO member states and related international and non-governmental organizations participated in the conference.
