On Feb 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new cases of confirmed infections (8 imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 4 indigenous cases, 3 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Jilin province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 81 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,767 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 9.

As of 24:00 on Feb 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,780 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,490 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 290 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,681 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 83,810 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,235 confirmed cases (including 27 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 970,103 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 32,244 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new asymptomatic cases (including 9 imported cases). 31 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 8 imported cases) and 1 (indigenous case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Feb 5, 733 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 283 imported cases). 

As of 24:00 on Feb 5, 11,560 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,589 in Hong Kong (186 had died and 9,750 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 923 in Taiwan (9 had died and 841 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
