Feb 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Hunan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 46 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 406 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Feb 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,913 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,706 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 207 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,816 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 84,696 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 484 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 975,316 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,308 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 27 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 14 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 18, 338 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 282 imported cases). 

As of 24:00 on Feb 18, 11,808 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,820 in Hong Kong (197 had died and 10,298 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 940 in Taiwan (9 had died and 886 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
