Anti-pandemic team completes Laos mission
The Chinese anti-pandemic expert team serving in Laos completed its mission and returned home on Tuesday.
The Yunnan government sent the team of 25 to Laos on May 4. It was its second trip. During their two weeks of work, the experts helped Laos form prevention and control plans. They helped to improve the technical level and response capacity of the country and suggested ways to assess pandemic trends.
The team met with officials of the Ministry of Health of Laos. Wang Jiankun, the team leader, said the team established a cooperation and coordination mechanism with the pandemic prevention department of Laos. Experts went to several regions for field research, putting forward targeted prevention and control suggestions and carrying out training.
Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, deputy prime minister of Laos, said the Chinese team provided valuable suggestions and made positive contributions toward the prevention and control work in Laos, which fully embodied the spirit of a community with a shared future and deepened the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries. With the help of China, they developed confidence to control the COVID-19 pandemic and resume normal life as soon as possible.
Jiang Zaidong, the Chinese ambassador to Laos, said the Chinese experts overcame difficulties, followed all arrangements and completed the mission of helping Laos in an excellent manner. They also made practical contributions to deepen the friendship between China and Laos.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos. The development of relations is facing new situations and opportunities. Yunnan has a special geographical advantage in cooperation between China and Laos. It has long been a trailblazer.
