China, Singapore eye closer collaboration in anti-COVID-19 fight
China's National Health Commission Minister Ma Xiaowei and Singaporean Health Minister Ong Ye Kung had a video call on June 4 to exchange views on further deepening health cooperation, including in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ma first congratulated Ong on his new appointment. He said that the health authorities of China and Singapore have maintained multi-field, multi-channel and all-round collaboration for a long time.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the two countries have kept close communication in policies and technologies to combat the virus, he noted, adding that China is willing to work with Singapore to continue to deepen practical health cooperation, including anti-pandemic cooperation, in order to jointly build a global health community for all. He also introduced China's measures taken in the virus fight at the request of his counterpart.
Ong praised China's success in COVID-19 prevention and control, and said that he hopes to continue to strengthen policy communication and technological exchanges in curbing the pandemic to safeguard the health of the people of the two countries and the world.
