NHC dispatches working group to flood-hit Henan
The central leadership has called for all-out efforts to treat the injured and ensure post-flood epidemic prevention after Zhengzhou, capital of Central China's Henan province, was battered by torrential rains and floods.
Ma Xiaowei, minister of the National Health Commission (NHC), immediately assigned NHC Vice-minister Lei Haichao, who was working in Zhengzhou, to lead a working team to the flood-hit area in Henan.
The team, composed of experts in epidemic prevention, mental and community health, is tasked with guiding local emergency medical rescue, defusing potential risks in medical and health institutions, ensuring normal diagnosis and treatment order, and strengthening psychological comfort and counseling so as to avoid risk of epidemic in the wake of the disaster and protect people's lives and physical and mental health.
Meanwhile, the NHC has arranged for national-level medical teams in six neighboring provinces to prepare for reinforcement of emergency rescue and standardized disaster relief for Henan.
