Sept 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 9 in Yunnan province, 6 in Shanghai municipality and 4 in Guangdong province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 50 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,666 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1. 

As of 24:00 on Sept 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,523 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,905 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 618 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Sept 7, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,083 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 89,652 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 795 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,167,468 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 13,013 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 22 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 19 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 7, 390 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 358 imported cases). 

As of 24:00 on Sept 7, 28,239 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,129 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,825 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (61 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,047 in Taiwan (837 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
