Vice-premier urges effective control of COVID-19 resurgence in Gansu
LANZHOU — Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan has urged dedicated and effective efforts to control the resurgence of COVID-19 infections in Northwest China's Gansu province.
Sun, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour to the cities of Lanzhou and Tianshui in Gansu between Oct 28 and 30.
During the tour, Sun learned about anti-pandemic efforts by local communities, hospitals and relevant authorities, and urged efforts to contain the resurgence as soon as possible.
Sun stressed efforts to raise the efficiency and quality of nucleic acid testing and accelerate epidemiological investigation to block virus spreading.
Efforts should be made to prevent imported COVID-19 cases and local resurgence, and advance the construction of a public health emergency response system in the western regions, Sun stressed.
