Beijing reports one new COVID-19 case
Beijing reported a new locally transmitted case of COVID-19 on Monday, who was a close contact of the previous case reported on Saturday, said the city's health authority on Tuesday.
The new case, who also lives in Shangdi sub-district in Haidian district, has been taken for medical treatment after the nucleic acid testing showed positive on Monday.
On Saturday, Beijing reported a confirmed case with Omicron variant. The authority announced on Monday that the genome of the case is highly similar to the variant strains detected in North America and Singapore as shown by gene sequence analysis.
In addition to the new locally-transmitted case, Beijing reported another three imported cases and four asymptomatic cases for Monday.
