NHC vice-minister holds talks with Cuban deputy prime minister
Entrusted by Ma Xiaowei, minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC), Vice-Minister Zeng Yixin met with a delegation led by Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella in Beijing on March 30.
Zeng spoke highly of China-Cuba health cooperation, noting that with their deeply-rooted friendship and solid foundation for health cooperation, China and Cuba have carried out fruitful collaboration in such fields as public health and biotechnology under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Health Cooperation.
He briefed the Cuban delegation on the development of China's health cause and progress in COVID-19 prevention and control, and said that China is willing to work together with Cuba to deepen bilateral and multilateral health exchanges, further practical cooperation, and jointly build a community of health for all.
Perdomo said he appreciates the achievements China has made in COVID-19 prevention and control. He introduced Cuba's work in promoting universal health care and preventing and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, especially the progress in vaccine and drug research and development.
He also expressed willingness to make joint efforts with China to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, promote the expansion of health exchanges and collaboration, and promote the health and well-being of the people of the two countries.
