NHC vice-minister meets with Kiribati’s health minister

Cao Xuetao, vice-minister of China’s National Health Commission (NHC), met with Tinte Itinteang, minister of health and medical services of Kiribati, in Beijing on June 8. They exchanged views on deepening bilateral health cooperation.

Cao briefed the Kiribati minister on China's experience and achievements in hospital management, maternal and child health promotion and grassroots medical services. He said that China and Kiribati have carried out a series of practical health cooperation, and that the Chinese medical team dispatched to Kiribati has been highly recognized by local residents and governments, successfully enhancing the health and well-being of the people of the two countries and deepening their friendship. China is willing to further joint efforts to promote health collaboration and exchanges, in a bid to better protect the lives and health of the people and enhance mutual understanding, he added.

Isentron said that the Kiribati side adheres to the one-China principle, thanks the Chinese medical team for its positive contribution to the health of the people of Kiribati and appreciates China for its support in combating the COVID-19 epidemic and in health development, noting that Kiribati is willing to continue to deepen health bilateral cooperation between the two countries to further benefit the people of the two countries.
