On April 9, Cao Xuetao, vice-minister of the National Health Commission (NHC), met with President of the Merieux Foundation Alain Merieux in Beijing. They exchanged in-depth views on promoting China-France health cooperation and the Merieux Foundation's cooperation projects in China.
Cao reviewed and spoke positively of the China-France health collaboration and its fruitful results, and thanked the Merieux Foundation and Merieux himself for their long-term contributions to health cooperation between the two countries, as well as to China's reform and development.
He said that China is ready to take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France to further practical cooperation with the foundation in such areas as hospital infection control, tuberculosis prevention and treatment, as well as the rational use of antibiotics, in a bid to make greater contributions to the health and well-being of the two peoples and aid in the building of a global community of health for all.
Merieux said that he and the foundation are willing to continue to support the development of China's health undertakings, deepen France-China health exchanges and cooperation, and promote the two sides to complement each other's strengths to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results in relevant fields for the benefit of the two peoples.
