NHC minister meets with Peruvian health minister
On June 28, Lei Haichao, minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC), met with Peruvian Health Minister Cesar Vasquez in Beijing. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on China-Peru health exchanges and cooperation.
Lei acknowledged the progress made in China-Peru health collaboration, and presented China's achievements and experience in the construction of healthcare system and the promotion of grassroots medical services, telemedicine and traditional Chinese medicine since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012.
He said that in accordance with the guidelines issued by the CPC Central Committee for health undertakings in the new era, China has been continuously improving its healthcare service system to promote public health, while giving priority to grassroots medical services.
China is willing to strengthen health cooperation with Peru under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state through personnel training, technical exchanges, academic discussions and experience sharing, so as to make contributions to building a global community of health for all, he noted.
Vasquez spoke highly of the achievements China has made in health undertakings, and introduced the efforts Peru has made in health promotion and the challenges it faces, saying that Peru is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with China in areas such as the construction of medical institutions and promotion of medical technology, mobile healthcare services and grassroots medical services.
Officials of related departments of the NHC were present at the meeting.
