NHC vice-minister meets with CMB president
On Oct 24, Zheng Zhe, vice-minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC), met in Beijing with a delegation led by Roger Glass, president of the China Medical Board (CMB). The two parties exchanged views on further promoting health exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States.
Zheng fully acknowledged the CMB's contributions in promoting non-governmental health exchanges between China and the US. He stated that China and the US share common interests and vast opportunities for cooperation. Strengthening health collaboration is conducive to enhancing the health and well-being of the people of both countries and the world, and is in line with the fundamental interests of both nations, he added.
He expressed hope that the CMB would continue to foster people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries, and promote the exchange of visits between young scholars, doctors and other professionals from both countries, serving as a model for non-governmental health exchanges between China and the US.
Glass said that people-to-people exchanges are crucial to bilateral relations. He noted that the CMB values its cooperation with China and will remain committed to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries, further expanding the US-China cooperation, promoting collaboration in areas such as medical education, healthy aging, mental health and cancer prevention and control.
